Eternal question; 1, 2, 3, or 4? Effective Fire Alarm

roundtable discussion

When and where
16 February 2012, 16.00-18.00, Hall 5

A real problem facing any installer wishing to set up an effective fire alarm system is the lack of methodologies for comparison of various solutions. In practice, the problem boils down to following three very specific questions:

1. How many annunciates should be installed?
Actually, law has cancelled the obligatory nature of all recommendations. The current risk calculation methodology is rather vague. One can set up six sensors or not install them at all, which will not influence the resultant ‘risks’.

2. SP5 – how to be guided by it correctly?
SP5 has many useful facts and calculation methodologies, the strengths and weaknesses of various techniques, and reliability enhancement options. However, many have started taking SP5 too literally. How should one use the regulation correctly?

3. Dual-limit loops – a habit only?
In spite of the labour intensiveness of the assembly, questionable reliability and lack of skilled personnel, the option remains optimal – under SP5.

These and other urgent questions cropping up during the installation of a truly effective fire alarm system will be answered by best experts Igor Neplokhov, with Centre-SB, and Alexei Omelyanchuk, with Sigma-IS.

KEY AUDIENCE: installers, manufacturers, system integrators and end users

Keynote. Low Light Sensivity VS. Image Quality

Lars Brinkmann
Key Account Manager Europe
Basler Vision Technologies
Germany

When and where
16 February 2012, 11.00-11.45, Hall 5

Vendors of video surveillance cameras usually indicate the level of low light sensivity in their product manuals. Still, each of them may imply different things without making it clear:

 wether it is sensor or lens sensivity;
 what lens' F-number is referred to;
what signal to noise ratio is addressed.

The user guide for a video camera supplied with built-in lens F1.8 can often say "low light sensivity of 0.1 lux @F1.2. This makes it evident that we cannot 90% compare low light performances from different vendors. Besides, low light performance doesn't provide information on how much light is really required for a camera in each case.

Using various camera brands as an example, Lars Brinkmann will to showcase which characteristics and settings of a camera are essential to ensure a truly quality image.

Keynote. Ways to Increase Revenues Installing Video Surveillance

Anders Johansson
Regional sales manager for Russia, CIS, Poland and the Baltic markets
Milestone Systems
Denmark

When and where
15 February 2012, 11.00-11.45, Hall 5

Open-platform VMS is an IP video surveillance market segment that shows the most impressive dynamics. The global VMS market grows 30% a year. In terms of business it means selling, installing and using IP camera VMS deliver excellent value and benefits.

Selling prices per video channel have been sustainedly high for many years. VMS products are gaining new functionality all the time. Software gives a lot of flexibility and is therefore future proof. It is not the same as the hardware parts – as soon as the hardware is out of the factory, its price starts devaluing. All of these provides significant business opportunities to those security installers and system integrators who are focused on large or geographically distributed installations, service contracts and long-term relations with the customer.

Competition between VMS vendors as well as external competition between VMS and NVR vendors drive introduction of unique offers (e.g. free entry-level VMS) and a new level of functionality, simplicity and usability. These makes open VMS attractive for small installations as well.

What innovative technology and features are demanded by system integrators and end-users in Europe? What business opportunities are available to system integrators and installers using open IP VMS? Which arguments count for end customers? A complete insight into VMS products will be offered by Anders Johansson, a leading expert for Milestone Systems, a No 1 global vendor of IP VMS.

Keynote. Innovations in Access Control – New Level of Functionality and Comfort to End-Users

Agnieszka Filipowicz
Business Developer Manager Eastern Europe
SALTO Systems
Spain

When and where
15 February 2012, 11.00-11.45, Hall 6

Easy to use, reliable, cost effective, secure, future proof – these are the fundamental requirements the end customer currently allocates to an access control solution. Accordingly, in 2011 vendors offered a number of innovative access control technologies and approaches to implementing efficient AC solutions.

Among them is a concept of access control system based on data-on-card technology. These wire free networked AC solutions combine offline and online electonics locks, readers and other peripherals. Such a hybrid approach ensures that the customers get 95% of what they would receive from a wired online system at the cost of a stand alone system.

For the first time, advanced wire free AC solutions became a topic of professional conversation at 4th Internaton All-over-IP Expo & Business Conference in November 2011. Agnieszka Filipowicz, Business Developer Manager for SALTO Systems in Eastern Europe, did her keynote in a completely full hall. Approaches to integration of all your physical security needs through wire-free networked locks, controling up to 64 000 doors and 4 million users, and monitoring access throughout a building in real time generated explosion of interest among the audience. At SST Moscow 2012, Agnieszka Filipowicz will deepen into the way hybrid AC solutions work and touch upon the questions received at All-over-IP 2011:

1. How can you guarantee security in data-on-card system?
2. Is it possible to manage data-on-card and wireless system with the same software (in the same installation)?
3. Which communication protocols is recommended to use and how can you guarantee security in case of wireless network failure?
4. What kind of batteries use stand-alone offline and wireless locks? How often is necessary to change batteries?
5. What are the limits of the system? How many doors and users is possible?
